About our tubers
All our tubers are grown in our small farm garden. We use natural fertilizers such as bone meal, steer manure and fish fertilizer. We naturally have amazing soil here in the Willamette Valley, specifically in our farming community which grow strong, healthy tubers.
Once dug, our tubers are washed, labeled and stored until February when we "wake them up". When you receive your dahlia tubers, they will be carefully stored in peat moss and sealed in a bag. Gently take them out, brush them off and you'll notice the stamped name on the side.
To plant, make sure your soil temperature is at least 60 degrees, find a very sunny location and place 4-6" deep. Bone meal or alfalfa pellets can be added and mixed into the soil for nutrients at the bottom of your hole before placing your tuber inside. Dahlias like to be watered deeply less often as opposed to a little bit daily. 3-4 times a week should be sufficient except with very hot spells.
